Samsung today revealed that the award winning Galaxy S2 is one of eight devices which will receive an upgrade to Android 4.0 IceCream Sandwich in the early part of 2012.
The handset, which has helped Samsung shift over 300 million devices this year, will continue to be one of the hottest devices to own as the new year approaches. Other devices to receive the update are the Samsung Galaxy Note, Galaxy S2 LTE, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 10.1, 8.9, 7.7 and 7.0.
A Samsung Press Release announced that the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note would be the first of the devices to receive the upgrade however were not specific to date or country.
Android 4.0 IceCream Sandwich was first unveiled in October 2011 showing a redesigned user interface, WIFI Hotspot and NFC Support whilst the feature grabbing most of the headlines was the Face Recognition for unlocking the Mobile Phone. Android Beam takes advantage of NFC to allow users to share web pages, apps and video's simply by tapping the backs of two devices together.
