Motorola Gleam MMS Settings

 

Most handsets are expected to be ready to work when out of the box  however there are some handsets in the budget range which are not always fully supported by a network and specific settings may be missing.  This is true of the Motorola Gleam.  Many Gleam users purchase the device for the retro flip design and large buttoins for ease of use however what if you want to send a Photo Message?  Unfortunately the handset does not come activated with MMS Settings so we have provided these below so that users can manually sort this problem out..

First of all you need to set up the Data Account.  To do this follow these steps from your handset menu:

  • Settings
  • Connectivity
  • Data Account
  • GPRS
  • Options
  • Add

Once here, you need to add the settings as follows:

  • Account Name:  Vodafone MMS
  • APN:  wap.vodafone.co.uk
  • User Name:  wap
  • Password:  wap
  • Auth Type:  Normal
  • Primary DNS: 212.183.137.012
  • Secondary DNS:  000.000.000.000

Next, you need to set up a MMS Profile so go back to the handset menu and follow this route:

  • Messages
  • Settings
  • Multi-Media Settings
  • Profiles
  • Add New

The next step is to fill in the Profile Settings as follows:

  • Profile Name:  Vodafone MMS
  • MMSC Address:  http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
  • Data Account:  Select Vodafone MMS created earlier
  • Connection Type:  WAP
  • Username:  wap
  • Password:  wap

Now, relax, take some photographs using the built in Motorola Gleam Camera, and send them via a Photo Message to your friends.  Please remember that Photo Messages (MMS) are generally chargeable and not included within any inclusive bundle of text or data which you may have.
