A Mobile News article is claiming that by the middle of 2014 up to 90% of the UK adult population will be able to send payments via their mobile phone.
The Payments Council state that the scheme will allow payments to be processed with no need to give out account details. The money transfers will take place using phone numbers as a proxy. Once a user has signed up, making a payment will be "as easy as sending a text message"
